First shot of Ibara Kasen of Touhou Project by the lovely and talented :iconfenyxdesign:. This was my first time working with her and I was so excited and I'm just so happy with how the pictures came out. Hand embroidered all the leaves on this baby. Drew them all out with pencil and then filled them in over a few months watching multiple seasons of desperate housewives and all the lotr movies multiple times. Pretty pleased with how the sleeves on the blouse came out as well. The mummy arm thing turned out pretty good aside from losing feeling in my arm gradually XD

Not interested in your secrets! I see that look of yours!

You got a good photographer to take pictures of this outfit. Fenyx Design is very competent. If I say she is good, that means something. :P

I am really impressed with her work. She was the most expensive shoot I did and I really can't complain about anything. Good turn around time and great results. I'm really happy I went and took pictures in this costume with her as this costume took more time to create than anything else I brought to the convention!

This was a good spend of your money for a costume you worked hard on.

I think so :) I'm really torn on the paid shoots debate but in this instance it was absolutely worth it.

Didn't you pay for the photos when you had those very nice photos done in China during college? :)

In any case, I would not advocate that you pay for photoshoots for every cosplay you make. Just prioritize the cosplays that you absolutely want the best photos for and put your money towards that.

Excellent point, I completely forgot about those pictures. 2008 feels like it was so very long ago now. I think what you're saying is the best strategy though, paying only for select shoots on costumes that have the most hours in :)

How can you forget such lovely photos? :) Good photos tend to be "timeless." You'll remember them long after they are taken.

Paying only for select shoots may also influence what costumes you make in the future. Is this costume going to be a "hall cosplay" outfit or a "photoshoot worthy" outfit.

I think as I get older I will definitely move towards fewer higher quality costumes so it will work itself out :)
